Meet the Kesar Mango!
We chose to grow the Kesar variety of mangoes for its intensely rich flavour: sweet, smooth & wholesome, with floral aromas & a hint of citrus.
A versatile variety, the Kesar is wonderful for the table, as well as for pulp, juices, smoothies, nectars, squashes, jams, marmalades, concentrates, and sorbets
(just to name a few).
In order to relish the authentic flavour of the mango, it is important to choose the right time to cut it. Looks can be quite deceptive as far as the Kesar mango is concerned, because in its ripe state, the green skin of the fruit veils a luxurious saffron midst. Our trees were brought from where the Kesar mango originates: the Junagadh district of Gujarat. Nurtured by the grey soils of the Deccan Plateau, the trees have adapted to the climate, and imparted a unique sweetness to the fruit. The season for our Kesar begins with the summer (March) and ends mid-monsoon (June).
